System Link multiplayer is the same as splitscreen other than there being multiple consoles and screens, making this a preferred way to play for tournaments or parties. System Link is the connection of multiple consoles through a Local Area Network, or LAN. There are only preset classes in Splitscreen. In Splitscreen, all players are viewing their character on the same TV screen, hence the name "splitscreen". However, only people on that console my play against each other, so it's usually best to have a smaller map to play in. In this multiplayer version, all the modes in online multiplayer are available to the users. There is a local multiplayer feature known as splitscreen.
In either type of match, up to 16 players are supported. Public matches connect you to anyone to play against, where private matches are invitation only and often have custom rules. In addition, matches can be public or private. Their are different modes available, and these can be found in the corresponding playlists.
